A quick life update.
the project
Since I started this project on September 15, 2025, a lot of my time has been spent just deciding what exactly I should do with this website. Aside from figuring out what the content should be, I also spent a long time thinking about whether I should switch to Gutenberg or just stay with what I already started using — the free version of Elementor and Blocksy.
I was also thinking about whether I should stick with the default post type and just get creative with taxonomies, or create custom post types for the different kinds of content that I want to publish.
Last December, while I was on a long vacation, I finally started creating custom post types using the CPT UI plugin. Right now, I already have separate post types for jokes, movies and TV shows that I’ve watched, music that I liked, and links from the internet that caught my attention.
Since I’ve already updated quite a lot somehow, I decided to stick with Elementor and Blocksy for now. Hopefully, I can also add a post type for books that I’ve read and games that I play. I’m also planning to add a digital garden. But maybe next month I will focus more on content first.
recommendations
One of my stories that is popular and frequently visited is about YouTube channels where you can watch legitimate and free Tagalog movies.
I also regularly update the list of Philippine holidays for 2026.
From January to February:
I shared 4 stories, including one about Galentine’s Day.
I posted 41 jokes, and one of my recommendations is Wisdom of Love.
I added 8 movies and 1 TV series to the list of shows that I’ve watched. The latest one I watched is Synchronic.
I added 19 songs and 3 albums to my list of music that I enjoy listening to. My latest discovery is the song Pag-ibig ay Kanibalismo II by fitterkarma.
I also shared 10 websites and 7 YouTube videos that I liked and that you might enjoy too. Try checking this one about a time machine.
at work
Last October 2025 marked my fifth year in my fifth company. Technically, I’ve been working here for 6 years and 6 months already, but that’s another story.
I’m still part of the response team that handles concerns from clients. What we support is a comprehensive payroll and human capital management (HCM) system.
As of February 4, the acquisition of our company by a software-focused private equity firm has been fully completed. This is now our second acquisition.
Since last year, many changes have been introduced in our work system (git, github, code review, dapper, claude, chatgpt, co-pilot, etc.). Currently, our trajectory is moving toward entering the world of AI.
Just yesterday, they showed us a fully functional and aesthetically polished portal that was built in only 40 hours with the help of AI. It even made me think about creating an application that decides whether I should go to work or not.
By the way, we are still working from home since the pandemic.
home media server
Since 2024, I’ve been researching software that I can use to create a home media server. I eventually settled on Jellyfin. It’s simple. Easy to use. I set it up to be only accessible here inside our house.
At first, it was quite popular and used frequently. But after we subscribed to a couple streaming services, it’s currently fighting for its life in third place, trailing behind the corporate giants of Netflix and Disney.
Right now, I use Jellyfin more for documentation purposes. What I mean is that Jellyfin is where I check what media (movies, TV shows, music, books) I currently have in my collection.
From January to February, I documented 27 feature films, 7 Tagalog films, 4 animated films, 2 documentaries, 1 TV special, 3 TV series, 30 albums, 3 singles, and 2 extended plays.
at home
This January marks two years since I stopped smoking or should I say that it’s been two years since I traded the cigarettes for a vape.
Since I quit smoking, I gained a bit of weight. I don’t know if it has anything to do with quitting cigarettes, but ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been skinny. And for the first time in my life, I’ve surpassed the 50kg mark. Yay!
For the first time in my life, there are people seeing me and saying, “Uy, tumataba ka ah.“ (“Hey, you’re getting fat.”)
Last week, for the first time in a long time, I walked from our house to the outside of the subdivision to buy vape juice. Ever since we got an e-bike, my wife usually just drives me whenever I need to buy something outside. But our e-bike was broken for two weeks and it was only fixed this Tuesday. So yeah, apparently my powers are no longer enough for those kinds of walks. Haha. I’m really getting old.
LATE NIGHT EDIT: On the night of February 28, we had a simple birthday celebration at our house with my wife’s family. And when we bought some alcohol from one of our regular neighborhood stores, the shopkeeper saw me again after a long while and immediately said, “Uy, tumataba ka ah. Seryoso nga, tumaba ka.” (“Hey, you’re getting fat. Seriously, you gained weight.”)
