High schoolers Mitsuha and Taki are complete strangers living separate lives. But one night, they suddenly switch places. Mitsuha wakes up in Taki’s body, and he in hers. This bizarre occurrence continues to happen randomly, and the two must adjust their lives around each other.

SEPARATED BY DISTANCE, CONNECTED BY FATE.

My Two Cents

Your Name. is one of those rare films that blends romance, fantasy, and emotional depth into something unforgettable. It’s not just about two people switching bodies – it’s about connection, memory, and the strange ways lives intersect. Add breathtaking animation and a powerful soundtrack, and you’ve got something that stays with you long after the credits roll.

While the storytelling is clever, it’s not the kind that leaves you confused. Yes, there’s body-swapping. Yes, there’s a timeline twist. But you don’t need to take notes just to follow the plot.

I first watched this in July 29, 2017. And during re-watch, it hits more as a story about timing, missed chances, and how fragile human connections can be. The emotional weight lands heavier when you already know what’s coming. It’s less about “what happens” and more about “how it feels.”

This is the kind of film I’d recommend to almost anyone, even non-anime fans. It balances spectacle and emotion really well, and the payoff hits hard if you let yourself get invested.

“There’s no way we could meet. But… one thing is certain.
If we see each other, we’ll know.
That you were the one who was inside me.
That I was the one who was inside you.
