70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin.

Take an unforgettable journey.

My Two Cents

The Intern is one of those rare films that feels like a comforting conversation rather than a spectacle. It gently explores purpose, aging, and modern work culture without being preachy. Sometimes, it’s just nice to watch good people being… good.

It’s simple, sincere, and surprisingly refreshing in a world of loud movies. Personally, it’s the kind of movie you don’t overthink. You just let it sit with you.

Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway): You have a favorite quote?
Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro): I do. “You’re never wrong to do the right thing.”
Jules Ostin: Who said that, you?
Ben Whittaker: Yeah. But I’m pretty sure Mark Twain said it first.

Who would enjoy this?

  • Fans of quiet, character-driven sci-fi stories
  • Anyone who appreciates emotional performances from a mostly solo cast
  • Dog lovers (this one hits differently if you have a pet)
  • People into post-apocalyptic worlds that focus more on humanity than action
  • Those curious about AI companionship and human-robot relationships

Who might not vibe with this?

  • Viewers expecting fast-paced action or big sci-fi spectacle
  • Those who prefer large ensemble casts and complex subplots
  • Anyone impatient with slow, reflective storytelling
  • People looking for heavy world-building explanations
  • Viewers who don’t connect with emotional, sentimental arcs
  • Those who want a traditional “hero versus villain” conflict
