Deep Web gives the inside story of one of the most important and riveting digital crime sagas of the century – the arrest of Ross William Ulbricht, the 30-year-old entrepreneur convicted of being ‘Dread Pirate Roberts,’ creator and operator of online black market Silk Road. As the only film with exclusive access to the Ulbricht family, Deep Web explores how the brightest minds and thought leaders behind the Deep Web and Bitcoin are now caught in the crosshairs of the battle for control of a future inextricably linked to technology, with our digital rights hanging in the balance.
The Crime Saga of the Digital Age.
My Two Cents
Deep Web is one of those documentaries that quietly pulls you in and then leaves you thinking long after it ends. It explores the rise and fall of Silk Road through the lens of Ross Ulbricht, raising uncomfortable questions about privacy, government power, and the limits of the internet. If you’ve ever wondered how deep the web really goes, this is a compelling place to start.
This is the kind of documentary I’d gladly revisit, especially when I’m in the mood for something thought-provoking. It doesn’t try to spoon-feed conclusions, which might frustrate some viewers, but that’s exactly what makes it stick. It also gained attention for presenting a perspective that challenges mainstream narratives about the case.
“The Dread Pirate Roberts was cribbed from the mythical character from the novel and film ‘The Princess Bride,’ and the choice was no accident.
In the original story by William Goldman, the Dread Pirate Roberts was a nom de guerre handed down from user to user and passed along eternally.“
Keanu Reeves (Narrator)

North of Nowhere
South of Somewhere
My life is like a movie, but the script is written by someone who’s clearly losing interest in the plot.
I told a chemistry joke today. There was no reaction.
Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart. Or, in the case of Heavy Metal, to tell the neighbor’s cat to move out.
