A Few Notes
Noong nasa 3rd at 4th year high school ako at nagsisimulang mangolekta ng cassette tapes at mag-aral mag-gitara, isa ang “Never Say Goodbye” sa mga una kong pinag-aralan. May photocopy pa ako ng tablature nito na nabibili ko noon sa ilalim ng Ever Gotesco Grand Central sa Monumento.
Medyo tinigilan ko lang makinig sa bandang Bon Jovi at ilan pang Soft Rock, Glam Metal o Hair Bands dahil medyo mahihirap gitarahin ang mga adlib sa kanta nila. At uso pa noon na sabihing “pam-bisaya” kapag ganito ang mga pinapakinggan mong tugtugan. Tagalog Imperialism =p
Pero ang main reason is nagsulputan na ang mga Pinoy alternative rock bands around 1993-94.
Ang kantang “Never Say Goodbye” ay tungkol sa young love at sa mga bittersweet memories na naiwan matapos magwakas ang isang relasyon. Sinasalamin ng kanta ang mga panahong wala kang inaalalang problema bilang isang teenager, ang una mong pag-ibig, at ang hirap ng pagtanggap na ang mga tao at ang mga sitwasyon ay nagbabago sa paglipas ng panahon. Ang pinakapuso ng emosyon nito ay ang kagustuhang kumapit sa mga mahahalagang alaala, kahit na hindi na maiiwasan ang tuluyang nitong pamamaalam.
