A mysterious event causes nearly everyone on the planet to simultaneously lose consciousness for 137 seconds, during which people see what appear to be visions of their lives approximately six months in the future – a global “flashforward.” A team of Los Angeles FBI agents, led by Stanford Wedeckand spearheaded by Mark Benford and his partner Demetri Noh, begin the process of determining what happened, why, and whether it will happen again. Benford contributes a unique perspective on the investigation; in his flashforward, he saw the results of six months of investigation that he had done on the flashforward event, and he and his team use those clues to recreate the investigation.
Everyone in the world will get a flash of their own future.
My Two Cents
FlashForward takes a simple but mind-bending idea – everyone on Earth sees a glimpse of their future – and turns it into a gripping, puzzle-like narrative. It’s the kind of show that makes you question destiny while keeping you hooked episode after episode. Even years later, its premise still feels fresh and unsettling in the best way.
I followed the show when it was released in 2009. I liked the concept, but unfortunately, it was cancelled after just one season.
A great way to spend your time, especially if you enjoy mystery and sci-fi concepts. It had strong momentum and an intriguing premise, but the cancellation prevented it from reaching its full potential.
“The whole world’s on pins and needles, people. Air traffic’s been grounded. People scared to leave their homes, walk across the street. Hell, we’ve got Martial Law across half this country.
Priority number one. Finding out what caused this.
Priority number two, is figuring out whether or not it’ll happen again. You got it?“
FBI Assistant Director Stanford Wedeck (Courtney B. Vance)
